Who is the most valuable person in your life? Who is #1 in your life? It’s not enough to just love someone. God does not measure our love for Him by our confessions, words or emotions. God built into His kingdom a test that challenges the authenticity/genuineness of our love. This test is our giving. From Gods vantage point, when we say we love Him with no giving connected, then He says it is not love. God gives us grace to give. There are three stages or levels of giving: (1) Obligation – you are required to do it, and you know you need to do it. This is the tithing stage; “the tithe belongs to the Lord”. It is possible to tithe and not love God but give based on obligation. (2) Purpose and choice – you give offering. Your love begins to develop in this stage. This is not something you have to do; you do it out of love. (3) Giving as a lifestyle/not motivated by return. This involves making others’ dreams come true.
