How to Receive God's Best in This Life

There is one key element that positions us to receive God’s best in this life and that is our faith.  Faith cannot be activated with our natural senses (hearing, smell, sight, taste, and touch).  Provision is made and angels are present even though you may not see them with your natural eyes, and this was demonstrated in 2 Kings when Elisha and his servant Gehazi were surrounded by an army.  Elisha prayed and asked God to open Gehazi’s spiritual eyes that he might see the hosts of angels that God provided for their protection.  This holds true with situations in the every day lives of Christians.  You cannot get provision through your senses any more than you can reach a city traveling on an interstate in the opposite direction of the city you desire to reach.  You will certainly reach a city or town but not your city of choice.  1 Corinthians 2: 9-12; 14 states that eyes have not seen and ears have not heard the things which God has prepared, and it goes on to state that God has revealed them to us by His spirit and these things are spiritually discerned.  Therefore, we cannot operate through our senses but instead by our spirits to know all God has prepared for us.

Every believer has the right to stand on God's promises...

Faith functions in two main categories – individually and corporately.  Faith on a corporate level works differently than faith for individual purposes.  For example, in Numbers 13 Joshua and Caleb needed everyone to release their faith corporately to seize the land.  It would not have been enough for the two of them to operate in faith and not the group as a whole or corporately.  Likewise, the same remains true today for a corporate body of believers.  However, an individual does not need agreement from others to release his/her faith and receive from God.  Different principles apply in this situation.  Every believer has the right to stand on God’s promises and release their faith and expect the manifestation independent of the involvement of others.

Our faith in operation can cover every need we have in this life.  God has made us promises that cover every area of our lives, but we have to release faith to receive those promises.  God’s promises cover us spiritually, physically, mentally, financially, and socially.  The journey begins once the promise is heard.  Then our hearts must become engaged in the process – we have to believe it.  We cannot rely on our senses to validate God’s promises, because often times God’s promises and our circumstances contradict each other.  Therefore, we must believe the promise with our hearts and receive it in the now.  The next stop on this journey involves our mouths – confessing the promise.  Confession is simply agreeing with or repeating what you have already heard.  Finally, we arrive at the action destination.  We have to add an action that lines up or corresponds with what we’ve heard, believed in our hearts, and confessed with our mouths.  The Bible calls that faith.
