Both God and Satan seek to influence man in totally different directions. In a literal sense it’s like night and day. God’s influence is for the good of man and Satan’s attempt is to cause man to sin. God exercises his authority to put anything he has created just where and when he wants it. Note in Ezekiel 28:14-18 that God removed Satan from his position and pronounced eternal judgment on him. There are no true parallels to draw between our supreme creator and the disturbed evil-minded foe Satan. Who in their right mind can even try to compare Satan to our Almighty God?
The Book of Colossians states that God has created all things in heaven and on this earth. Satan has neither creative powers nor abilities. Everything that God created Satan has attempted to manipulate it to conform to his world of deception. The goodness of God’s creations has been proven since the beginning of time. Man was made perfect to exist on a higher level with God. Along comes Satan with his deceitfulness in the Garden of Eve and man’s relationship with God took a u-turn from that point forward. Thank God for sending his son (Jesus) to put man back on the right course with the creator. Satan is not a creator as in originator or inventor. But he is the originator of all sin, sickness and death, by attempting to overthrow God so that he himself would be glorified as God.
Satan has no God like qualities. Even though he is the ruler of the world system and has power over those he controls, he is void of God like qualities. God is omnipresent (everywhere) and omniscient (all knowing). He knows what you are thinking before the words come out of your mouth. Satan does not know your thoughts nor your fears until you reveal them. Proverbs 30:32 states “if you have evil thoughts put your hand over your mouth”. If the words you speak are not guarded Satan comes along and take the word of God away from your heart so that you can start casting doubt and disbelief. This is done with inattention, ill-will and ignorance.
Satan is not superior to man. In Genesis 1:26 man was created in the image of God and God gave man dominion over things of the earth. Since Satan’s fall, he has had a real problem with man’s position. Satan’s original existence was to serve God and man because he was an angel in God’s kingdom until he committed the big lie. Since he blew that opportunity, he became a fallen angel who is raging with jealousy and deception towards the kingdom of God. Now his mode of operation is to roam all over the earth trying to persuade people to sign a contract to sell their soul for the special power of wealth and material things.
Satan is not wise. Anybody who rebels against and denies their creator has more than just a few loose screws. It does not take a genius to figure this one out! Satan at one time did possess wisdom but he corrupted it. How smart is that? He does not have any capacity to read the word of God and get revelation from it. Throughout the bible it has been prophesied that Satan was going to get punished. The prophets prophesy that the Messiah was coming, but Satan was clueless. The bible also states that if Satan would have had the wisdom of God in him, he would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
Operating out of fear, Satan is like a mad dog salivating at the mouth and ready to attack. On the other hand, when you stand firm on the word of God, just as David did in 1 Samuel 17, it is time to get your praise on. When the dust had settled the devil was put in his rightful place. There is no greater victory than standing on the word of God.
This great victory was an antidote to the many battles God’s Army will be challenged with. By following the footsteps of David, the results will be the same. Jesus did the same thing with Satan in Colossions 2:14, by blotting out the handwriting of laws that was against us. He saw how Satan was using the law against men by their reactions to the law or their failure to keep it. Satan wants to see you in the light of your performance and make you feel self-conscience and condemned. Jesus nailed this man-made law against the cross because he knew laws of the world were counter productive. God produced laws for his own people to separate them from the world. God’s law brought sin to the forefront. In that light God’s people had to look outside of themselves. God does not judge you in the light of man’s law. He sees you in the light of what Jesus did. When you see yourself in the light of King Jesus, you would be bulletproof and as bold as a lion.
The finished work of Jesus is even more amazing. The result of this work is that Satan has no authority. By roaming around with his weapons of deception he can only have power over the dark side of the world. Because of the great works of Jesus we are always on top. In Ephesians 1:20-23 states that everything is placed under Jesus’ feet. We are not dealing with Satan to get victory. We are dealing from a position of victory and are fighting down. So no matter how much Satan tries to trip us up, we already have the victory through Jesus. No demon or devil has the power or authority to cast out the goodness of God.
